Reading journal workshop

  • Battery Point Community Hall 52 Hampden Road Battery Point, TAS, 7004 Australia (map)

Create a reader’s journal and learn simple sketching skills

Suzy Cooper will teach you how to capture your thoughts as you read (or listen to) books with simple and effective writing and sketching techniques anyone can learn.

You’ll learn how to make your handwriting easier to read, the power of your first thoughts, how to find images and colours to accompany your entries and how to lay out your page with this free-form method that you can’t mess up. It’s quick, it prompts different ways of thinking and your pages will look great.

This method can be used to start all kinds of journals including travel journals or sketch journals.

Everything is provided, including a quality sketchbook, pens, etc. that’ll form your own portable kit for recording your reading experiences.

Bring a book you love so you can add it to your journal on the day.

Especially welcome: non-drawers, people who don’t think they’ve got a creative bone in their body, and introverts.

This workshop is for both children (12 years +) and adults. If children are attending, we ask that guardians stay at the festival venue during the workshop (i.e. you don’t have to be in the workshop room, just nearby).

The workshop will be limited to 10 attendees and we are currently taking bookings.

Workshop participation is $55, or $45 for concession.
